Even if I was in another state and somebody asked me where I was from, I would say " I'm from Alaska and just moved to Wisconsin" I wonder how long it will take me say that "I'm from Wisconsin?" What made me think about Alaska vs. Wisconsin was going by this house. It's more then a junk yard! It would have made my late brother in-law, Big John, jealous! It was so, so junkie that it caused me to make a special side trip just to show my sister, who is visiting me, how junkie it was! Alaskans pride themselves on being the last free state. We have the attitude of "we don't need no stinking laws to tell us what we can or can't do!" But I have to say that Wisconsin, might have Alaska beat in that belief! There is a pride in collecting "stuff" here in Wisconsin. This is by no means the only place that has a huge collection of "stuff". I can see, when I drive around, that there are a lot of collectors out there. And I don't think that anybody really cares about it! And to top it off, Wisconsin still has smoking allowed in bars and restaurants! It's a shock to see an ash tray on a table! Also, you can bring children into bars with you and smoke while you hold them. I'm not saying that that's a good thing, just saying that it's allowed, there are no laws against it. The reason that I saw that, was cause most of the restaurants also have a bar attached to them. ( Don't worry Mom! ) So I would say that Wisconsin seems to be a little bit more independent! Alaska might just have to many Californians living there now!

Maybe that's why I've had a headache for 5 days, all the smoke? I think farmers everywhere collect stuff on their property - it gets too expensive to haul away and you never know when you might need some little part from it again.
ReplyDeleteDon't you just find yourself asking, "why does that family have so much junk in their yard"? Where did it come from? My favorite are the yards with all the old vehicles and farm equipmnet!
ReplyDeleteWith this post I almost want to say "When can I move to Wisconsin?"...almost. But I have to say I don't miss the junk piles in any way at all. Less work don't ya know.... What I want to know is how was the potluck Sunday???? and was there any really good stuff. I'm getting tired of trying to cook for one.
