Close Call!

Isn't amazing how super duper fast adrenalin can be dumped into your body?
Tonight, on the drive home, just minding my own business, singing along with the radio ( 24/7 Christmas music! How great is that!?) I was coming up a hill and just as I crested the hill, there were 2 LIVE deer, right smack dab in the middle of the road! (Stupid deer!) Now, I have not seen a live deer in about 2 weeks so I was not being my normal uber alert self. ( Sorry Dad!)
Things that went through my mind were.........Don't slam on the breaks! There might be ice!
Hit the breaks! You're going to hit the deer!
What I did was, tap the breaks, no ice. Good thing! Also, these 2 deer? They might have been the only smart deer in this state! The one on the left side of the road? Jumped left. The one on the right? Jumped right. I would say that this all went down in about 4 seconds?
It was a good thing I was sitting down! I could tell that my legs were wobbly.

But one thing I don't understand... Why did I flash my brights at the deer?!

  1. Maybe you just wanted to say "hey deer" I see you! Boy what a scary thing tonight. After that ordeal I think you need to relax tomorrow and read all day :-)

  2. In circumstances like that I never think to flash the lights or honk the horn. That's always an afterthought....I Should have honked the horn at that guy who almost ran me off the road. But I didn't and he's clueless.
