Last Thursday I wanted pizza for dinner so I popped into the oven one of them cheep frozen pizza. The bottom never got crisp and the top got over brown. I thought to myself "Self, you got a problem" So the next day I messed with the oven and sure enough that bottom heating element no longer works. That's not the only thing that doesn't work on the oven. The right front burner is broke. But I have 3 others that I can use. The oven now, I need an oven. Do I really need it or do I want an oven? I'm thinking....................Still thinking..........................Yep, I need an oven. How can I make cookies and brownies and chicken yasa and all other kinds of stuff with out an oven?
So I called up Sears and they looked and looked and my stove/oven is so old that Whirlpool no longer carries the parts. So now I need to buy a new oven. I had looked at Sears the other day and I found one for 319.00 bucks ( Of course you need to add tax on top of that) So I might shop around and see if I can get it cheaper. I was thinking used but then I'm always leery of buying other peoples problems. For 25.00 extra bucks Sears will drive all the way out to my place and install and take away the old stove so then I don't have to mess with that part. Which is nice.
With owning the IRS money I just don't want to spend extra money right now. Oh well. Cookies will ease the pain.
See that red apple on the right hand side? I got that over 2 weeks ago and still have yet to eat it. Then I got the green one a week ago and still have not ate it. I must go buy a 3rd apple to add to it so I can have 3 uneaten apples just sitting there. Also when I bought the red apple? I bought 3 bananas. They are in the freezer as they turned brown. When I get a oven I will make banana chocolate chip nut bread. I am not a fruit eater. If you give me the choice of a apple or broccoli or green beans? I would choose the veggie. Now if you gave me Rainer Cherries or veggies, I would chose the cherries. I blame my lack of fruit eating on being from AK and eating yucky fruit. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
A little haiku for you.
Yum, brownies,pie,cake.
Oven, do you think I'm fat?
Shut up! P.O.C.
Well, on the plus side, think of all those cookies you get to make to 'test out' the new oven.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you could try looking on Craig's List for an oven? Sorry. I hate being without my oven.
ReplyDeleteLove your poem, but what is p.o.c.?
I absolutely LOVE the haiku. I ask my scale that all the time, but I've never thought to ask the oven. I can attest to the fact that you can actually bake in an over when all the elements don't work, it just takes longer and stuff is always burnt on one side. But it can be done.
ReplyDeleteYeah, what is P.O.C.?
ReplyDeleteI hope you can figure out your oven dilema. I would be lost without my oven.
Don't know if u remember the problems we had with our stoves (yes, 2!) last year, but....
ReplyDeleteHave you called a appliance repair place? If you give them the make and model number, they can see if they have the parts u need. Sounds like you need a new bottom oven element and 1 burner?
Those stores seem to carry more of the older parts, etc....Sears may just want you to buy a new stove....

For thoses that don't know
ReplyDeleteP.O.C. is Piece Of Crap.
Annie, Oh, I remember your stove problems! That's a good ideal. I will do a yellow page search and see what I can find out. I would rather spend 50 then 300 bucks!
I've found astonishing great deals on craigslist. Most of the time, things I find are gently used and not very old. Recently we bought a microwave for over the stove (the hood vent motor was burned out) for next to nothing that was only a few months old. Turns out the wife wanted to upgrade to all stainless steel 6 months after they put it in! With a few parts necessary (filters, hardware for hanging it, exhaust tube that fit the one in our house), we spent maybe $100 on it all told including the microwave. New, it would have been a little over $300.
ReplyDeleteOoh! Forgot!
ReplyDeleteWhen my husband was in Academy (private, Adventist high school), he and his friends used to microwave those cheap pizzas. He says he ate many of them that way, soggy crust and all!
I agree about SEARS just wanting to sell you a new stove. If need be I will check with "K Appliance" on Fireweed and A, they seem to have parts for about anything made.
ReplyDeleteIt has been snowing like crazy today. We may even have snow for the Ididarod for the first time in years. The race begins Sat in Anchorage with the restart on Sunday.
