Sunday confessions.

Just want to say one thing first. I don't have that many things to confess. It's not like I have 100's of things hiding in the closet. But I do still have a few. So I'm going to pull this one out of the closet and share with you.

I used to take belly dance lessons. Go ahead, I will wait till you get done laughing. Are you done yet?

I'm a lot of things but one thing I'm not is svelte!
I took about 10 lessons and realized that maybe belly dancing is not my medium for a creative outlet! I tried real hard but I just could not get hips going one way, arms over my head with my head doing that little neck dance and all on your toes! I used to also try a little ballet for my mom. I would do this in the parking lots at the stores. I would get up on point and do a couple twirls and try a few leaps. ( Try being a key word )

So, when you play the video, think not of the tutus but colorful scarves with a coin belt around the waist. It still is not me, I was not that graceful! but you get a taste.

Do you have a love of the dance? Are you a frustrated dancer at heart? I feel your pain.

  1. I was a drummer years ago and can keep time very well, but cannot dance to save my soul. And my daughter has picked up my moves, which admittedly are cute on a one year old. Not so much on a thirty-one year old. :)

  2. A drummer? How cool is that! Did you play in a band?
I always wanted to have mad drum skills like John Bonham from Led Zeppelin.

  3. I would never have guessed you tried belly dancing. I tried to learn it too. Yeah, getting up on the toes was hard for me, especially with a screw inside my big toe...ouch. I did master the hip swing however!!!!!!

  5. I love that bit from Fantasia. There was a good beat going on at church last Sunday and I was almost dancing in the aisles...but since I was standing next to Mr. Rigid, I could barely clap my hands. Sometimes I just want to let it out and not care what anybody thinks. You are far braver than i to actually take those lessons.
