When I came home tonight no goats came out to great me. I was sad. I assumed that they got picked up for their date. But then I heard mmmaaa mmaaaa. They are still here. The lady that has the buck is having a hard time getting over here to pick them up. I was worried but I talked to her and it will work out.
At work I had a taste treat. I know, the following is going to gross out some of you. The police chief gave me a jar of pickled deer heart. Yep, you read that right. Deer heart, pickled. It's good. I have yet to eat anything pickled that I don't like. It did change the texture of the meat, it was very tender.
The kittens go to the vets tomorrow to get fixed. I think that the vets I have, have a little racket going on. I will drop off the kittens between 8am to 10am and I can't pick them up till the next day. So now I have to pay a boarding fee. Up in Anchorage when I got my cat spayed and 2 dogs spayed I was always able to pick up same day. Not sure what's going on with keeping them overnight. I will ask if I can pick them up the same day all they can say is no.
I think it's just standard around here to have the cats stay overnight. Even 25 years ago when we had our first cats spayed and neutuered we had to leave them there overnight.

ReplyDeleteHope the kitty surgery goes well...I wouldn't want to leave them overnite either but maybe it's a policy, so they can keep an eye on them overnight?
I agree we always picked ours up the same day. But now dog or cat has to stay overnight. The difference here is we don't pay extra boarding fees.

Sounds like a racket to me. We always sent them home same day unless we didn't get the pet in until the evening. What's the daily boarding fee per pet? If it's cheap enough, maybe you should schedule their spay/neuter over some time you need to be out of town and make the doctor your boarding kennel. Pickled heart, yuck.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you'll get a good nights sleep if the cats arent there? I've heard of pickled heart, but wouldnt probably eat it. Unless it was cooked first? Remember, I wont eat pickled fish because it hasnt been cooked!

ReplyDeleteThey kept Ginger overnight too when we got her fixed. I guess they just want to make sure they are ok, although it does add up to more money.
Ewwwwww. I don't like anything pickled! Not even pickles.lol.
ReplyDeleteWe pick up our animals the same day. Drop them off at 9am and pick them up after 3pm.

ReplyDeleteI prefer to pick up the same day. Usually, I have a very good relationship with my vet who is aware of the extent of my knowledge. However, with Luna, we won't have that. I'm hoping to get her spayed in about a week. I'd hate for her to stay overnight, but sometimes it pays to be extra cautious.
ReplyDeleteHowever, if they didn't have surgery until the afternoon, that would explain the extended stay. Perhaps they already had them scheduled for an afternoon surgery due to surgery demands for the day?
