I'm warm!

I should have taken a picture of my thermometer that I have outside by the back door, It was 36 at my house this afternoon! Abby likes this warmer weather, so I was the sliding door opener for the princess! It is warmer for her, but she doesn't like the wet snow on her feet! I don't mean to bring up sad thoughts but she is almost 12 years old. That's up there for a Doberman. I think that the next dog I get has to be a dog that can do hot and cold weather. My problem is that I have always liked short coated dogs! I have always wanted a Bull Terrier. Look here and hear. But being that I plan on having chickens and goats a bull terrier may not be the dog for me now. I think I will go to the pound when I'm ready and adopt a dog or two. I hope that that's years from now.
Too bad there's not a breed of dog that wont get ticks! Now that would be a great dog!

  1. crazy temperatures. I don't like it when it's way cold and then too warm. I like it to stay right at 25 to 30. Maryann is getting old too. She gets out of bed and hobbles to her other bed before flopping down again.

  2. We also had a high of 36 degrees. Being outside yesterday was really nice. Now I hear tomorrow is going to be brutal..20-25 mph winds and a high of 1 degrees! The windchill will be a problem tomorrow. I'm thinking some schools might close tomorrow due to snow, blowing snow and high winds.

I just have to say a Bull Terrier is a very strange looking dog! Their eyes are so small for such a thick body.

  3. Just wanted to remind you that "Joe" lived to be almost 16 so if you have been taking good care of Abbie and getting her exercize and lots of love and eating right she should be here for a lot longer time....Abbie is a good girl and I would miss her, I still miss Joe and its been almost six years since we planted him. Denali has wormed her way into my heart now and reminds me a lot of Shiloh....you remember him the mailamut as D. called him? That is why we have our best friends in the animal world...so unconditional love can grow in us and for us......
On the other side it is -40 this fine morning and I am going to have to get some more firewood split today if I am going to stay cozy or at the least turn the thermostat up to 72 at least to keep it 70 in the house. Don't want the water/drain pipes to freeze dont ya know.....I am loving my northern adventure and it is so cool to finally be happy..sometimes I can hardly believe how good life can be and am waiting for that proverbial other shoe. And then some days I forget all about how bad it can be

  4. Well, I hope Abby lives a good long life. When you do get another dog, I'm putting in a good word for labs. We've been so happy with our Ginger.
