I used to feel that I had to finish every book that I started. There were all kinds of reasons why. Now that I work at the library and have access to lots and lots of books, I have been able to put down some books. In fact, I'm reading 2 books right now that I have decide not to finish.
The 1st book is a western. I used to read a lot of them. (I was in a cowboy phase!) This one looked like it would be ok. But it's not. It's not the story line, it's the authors writing style that is bugging me! I'm on page 61. By this time Nathan (the main guy) has had his dad killed, his 2 sisters raped and killed. He himself has killed 1 bad guy ( One of the 7 bad guys that killed his dad and sisters, so 6 more to go) Killed a guy that tried to kill him, has been "bushwhacked" played a high stake card game and outed the cheater and killed him, had Jesse James and the gang chase him and pull a gun on him......what else? Oh and he had sex for the 1st time. In all that the author has not used one exclamation point! ( I just did )
The other book is is called " Mayflower Bastard" It's just down right boring! It's a non fiction book. I have gotten to page 35 and it feels like punishment reading it! And I have not done
anything wrong. Yet. So those 2 books are going back without me knowing how it ends. And I can live with that.
The tip today. Do not eat fried corn tortillas with re-fried beans before you go to church! I had that for breakfast at about 7.30am and by 11.30a at Church they were doing their bean magic! Not a good thing. I didn't do anything that my Mom would not be proud of. But I was in pain! That's just a little helpful hint for you. Cause I care. That's just how I am!

You could have quitely (let's hope) slipped out and had a breath of fresh air (by that I mean you could have gone outside to let er rip)
ReplyDeleteI'll remember that bean tip Krissy.
ReplyDeleteIf a book doesn't grab me after 3 chapters, I close the book with a big SNAP! It's my way of saying...yuck!
