Dinner.


I'm almost out of pork. When I moved down here I bought 1/2 of a dressed out pig. I got it though my friend that lives down here. What was really nice is that my friend doesn't care too much for pork so she gave me the ham hocks. They are the best. Nice and meaty, not like that ones you get in the store. They made some really nice bean soup.

This year I again bought 1/2 of a pig. I will go to a wrapping party and wrap my part of the pig. I think that I will be able to re-cut some of it up. I hope that I can. Some of the packages of pork that I have are to big for a single person. I end of eating pork for 4 or 5 meals! Good thing that I like pork!

I'm not sure if this pig is the pig that will be going into my freezer. This pig is the pig that my friends family raised. I hope that it is. It's nice to know how the pig was taken care of and what it ate. Also buying 1/2 of a pig makes the cost real reasonable.

    I know her pigs have names! She told me so. Do you know your pigs name? I just hope you don't get Miss Piggy...Kermit would feel bad.

    Brush that dirt off his nose before you eat him. I'm going to have a hard time living on a farm and eating my pets....even pigs can become pets.

    I dated a guy that raised a pig for slaughter. His name was George, the pig not the guy. Although he turned out to be a pig too! Anyway I digress. What the pig eats is VERY important. George ate fish - George tasted like fish. Fishy pork - not a good thing.

    No one from PETA bugging you yet??!! (I want bumper sticker my newphews wife has on her truck "PETA - People Eating Tasty Animals"!!!!
    Do you have your side of pork cured or is it fresh side?? One time did the fresh side and the bacon tasted just like pork chops!!
    Will you pickle his feet (since you pickle about everything else)??
    I remember going to bar-b-que at Summers Bay in Dutch Harbor and there was Ron Miller and one of the Lloyd boys roasting pig ears and eating them!!
