Is this a sign that spring is just around the corner? I know it doesn't look like spring but this means that the water is melting and ice jams are happening. Up in Alaska they have this big lottery called the Nenana Ice classic. People will buy a ticket and guess what day and what time, down to the second when the ice will move out on the river. I have never bought a ticket. I just have a hard time letting go of money that I don't have a guarantee on the return. That's why Vegas never has sounded like a place that I had to go to.Seeing the rivers like this makes me have hope that that spring is really just around the corner.
I'm so glad you took a picture of the Red Cedar River going through Colfax. Each time I went over the bridge I thought, darn, I should have my camera with me. The ice jam happened about two days ago...I think it's really cool.
ReplyDeleteWow that's cool. I wonder why that spot broke and moved. In know where the guys go fishing there is still plenty of ice and probably will be up through the middle of march.
