Yuck!

Today I saw something that made me go eewwww and laugh all at the same time. Yes, it involves the cats.

I was sitting at the kitchen table doing my homework and I see Harvey, dragging his butt, but going backwards. Kind of like a dog dragging it's rear end when it has worms. I think to myself that I have one weird cat, then I realize that he is starting to puke, and the force of his heaves is pushing him backwards. He then starts to puke for real and this so freaks him out that he jumps up and backwards about 2 feet, twisting his head so that the puke gets on side of a low cabinet. I clean it all up. I know that he has a sensitive tummy so I no longer give him people food. But I don't know how to keep him out of Abby's food.

I can't take Abby's food away as Abby has a hard time keeping her wight on her as she is getting older. I make sure that her food dish always has yummy kibble in it.

You can thank me now for not having my camera ready and taking a picture of Harvey spraying puke.

  1. Our trip has a tender tummy too and it sure is hard making sure he doesn't get into anything forbidden (yummy).

  2. Our 11 year old cat pukes sometimes. When I fed her just raw meat for 2 months, the puking completely stopped. My husband worried about it and made me go back to dry cat food - we couldn't afford the raw meat for both cats and he thought it may be bad for her - alas, the puking is now happening again...

  3. I hate the pukes, whether people or animal. Thanks for leaving out the picture.

  4. nice descriptive words - I can almost see it without the picture! Maybe put the cats outside? Then they couldn't get into Abbie's food. I know they would become less friendly but that was your original intent, you even put a special place in your garage for the cats.

  5. You didn't say anything about gagging when watching/cleaning up the mess - has your gag reflex FINALLY stopped??!!

  7. I hate the sound of "yacking." It will actually wake me up out of sound sleep when our cat up-chucks in the middle of the night! Then I have to carefully go and look for the YACK so we don't step in it!!!!!

  8. I waited for the puke to cool. Hot puke is sure to make me puke! Cat's don't have very big tummies so there was not too much. I used a lot (I mean a lot ) of paper towels to take care of it.

  10. Krissy - check out the Olive Oil Cakes w/Lemon & Thyme on Pioneer Woman's cookin' page today - might be something good to take to work to treat your co-workers and entice the single men that come in... teehee And if all else fail, for Church potluck!!

  11. Could be that Harvey has a hairball. If so, a little olive oil rubbed onto his paw so he cleans it up will help. When the hairball gets big enough to create a bit of a blockage, you will have a lot more puke. Take it from someone that has half a dozen cats!

I highly doubt the dog food is causing his issue. Dog food is lower in protein and taurine, but that's about it. Otherwise, they're fairly similar in ingredients.

I have a really hard time keeping weight on Luna. Between her spay and worming, she's back to looking like skin stretched over a bag of bones. And that girl can EAT! Oh my! She weighs 43lbs but eats far, far more than the other 3 dogs (totalling 180 lbs of dog) together! I'm beginning to become concerned about bloat. Where does she put it all? Where do all the calories go? Inquiring minds want to know!
