My country store

So I lie. It's not a real county store. It's a gas station that sells booze and food stuff. You can get that all important Miracle Whip and Velveeta cheese and your smokes. What I like to do when I'm in line is read the community bulletin board.

Besides all the kids looking to mow lawns and will do yard work, today I also saw the following.

I saw that there's going to be a LIVER AND ONION feed! Some people are trying to raise money for some family that had a fire. Gee, I don't really see a liver and onion feed really drawing a crowd, but hey, maybe that's just me. Maybe it will be a real "barn burner" ( Snickering to myself!)

Also Betty Sue ( not her real name) is Turing 18! The flyer said "If you can read this then come on over to Betty's Sue's 18th birthday party!" And, yep, it's at the trailer park! Bring your own booze. I think that I will miss that.

One big thing that I have noticed here in Wisconsin is that the small towns really do pull together and help out their neighbors in need. Over the year I have seen lots of flyer's about dinners to raise money for others due to illness, accidents, ect. In fact, Applebee's restaurant is always having a pancake feed on most Sundays, they are to help people raise money. When you drive by you will see a sign that has the date and reason for it. I think that it's nice. In Anchorage you never saw that.

  1. You can find out a lot about an area just by reading the post on bb. I don't think I have ever know there to be a liver and onion feed though, that's a new one.

  2. seems like spaghetti feed would draw in a bigger crowd. I for one would not attend a liver and onion feed. I think you should drop in on the 18 year old's birthday party and surprise everyone with your gall.

  6. What? No liver and onions for you? It might be absolutely delicious, if you can stand the smell!

  7. I think that's great the way the town tries to help each other out....our area is the same.

We once went to a Halloween fundraiser for a family...all the food was "different" - the Gman sure did not like eating green spagetti noodles with the red sauce, lol

  8. Count me in for the liver & onion
feed but only if they don't overcook the liver. Remember Henry Swanson, the old Aleut guy in Dutch Harbor. Anyway, in on of the cookbooks I have, they have his recipie for cooking seal liver "put liver in pan until it sizzles, turn it over until it sizzles then it's done"!!! I also vote for you to attend the 18th b-da party and do a blog on it!!!
