Oy Vey!

She sure is causing me some problems. I know, she looks all cute and all, and she is but she is having a bladder control problem. But only when she sleeps. The problem? She sleeps in my bed.Her little problem? It's causing me to do lots of laundry! Nothing like waking up in a big cold pee spot!

Abby had this problem a few years ago. It was caused by her being old and spayed, which causes her to have zero estrogen, which is needed for that. She will go on hormone replacement and see if that works. If not, then I will test her for diabetes, kidney problems and bladder infection. I'm pretty sure it's not a bladder infection as I have seen her with that and she's not having any of those problems.

One of the things I really like about having a country vet? I called up, explained to him what was going on, her past history and he said to come on over and pick up the pills. Back in Anchorage that would have been a vet visit and test would have to be done to make sure. (Understand, the vet here has seen Abby a few times and has looked at her past vet history as I brought her copies down with me)

So for now? Abby is on the couch while I'm gone at school or work and the bedroom door is shut. I have the couch protected. I have also protected my bed so she can sleep in it with me tonight.

  1. You are such a good mama! Me, I don't care how much I love the animal they'd be OUT of my bed!! Course I can't talk to much about pee in my house right now with Casey having issues with that and it seems like there are trails of pee everywhere. Hope the meds work for her.

  5. She does look pretty sheepish in that pic.

You are a softy, Ginger would be out of the bed if she slept with me. I would not care to wake up wet.

    Hope the meds help Abby.
