I find it odd

A few weeks ago at work a young lady came in and got a library card. She is 19 years old. We chatted a bit and she left. She comes in a few times a week. What I find odd is that she calls me "Sweetie," and "Honey".

I'm 47 and I am not sweetie nor am I honey! I did find out that she just got a job at Perkins as a waitress so maybe she's practicing her honey's and sweeties for the people that she will be waiting on.

Do you like to be called honey and sweetie when you go out to eat? or at work?

  1. One of my co-workers calls everyone Hon or Dahlin' or Sweetness. Sometimes it's a bit over the top but most people don't seem to mind, but it may be because we work mostly with men and I don't think they care what you call them. I notice she never calls the boss that though, so there is a sign of respect to him....does that mean she doesn't respect the rest of us?

  2. There are a few older gals that call me hun or sweetie that I know personally and maybe one library patron I can think of that does. I think it's strange for someone 19 to call you sweetie. Maybe you should start calling her Flo.

  5. No, I don't really like it either....makes me feel uncomfortable. I agree with crochet lady, it's weird that a young person would call you that. Maybe she grew up in the south?
