Remember back when I went off the road and I said I was lucky not to hit the phone pole? (Here)
Well, I went home that same way a few days ago and I realize that I was more lucky then I thought! I could have hit the other 2 signs!
It was a slow day at work. I think that the cold weather kept some people away. Being that it was slow I organized the kids chapter book section. When you need to find a book, it's hard to find it when kids take books off the shelf and then put them back willy nilly. It took about 1/2 hour to get them all straight. Now, if only I could keep their grubby little hands off them! But I guess that that's not the purpose of a public library! (sigh!)
There's this commercial that I hate and being that I have not seen it for a long time I forgot all about it. It just played! Arruuugghhh! I hate it! It's a Lysol commercial. It shows a woman and her daughter (Kid looks about 9 or 10?) in a public restroom and the mom lays a bunch of TP on the seat as there might be germs ( there is! ) That part doesn't bug me, it's the part where the mom is kneeling by the daughter while the daughter is on the toilet with her arm around her and then it flashes to their home and the mom is again kneeling by her daughter with her arm around her! Give your daughter a break! She is old enough to use the bathroom without your help! It creeps me out!
There. I think I have said enough!
I've never seen that on tv, but it does sound weird. What you said about the books and "the grubby little hands" reminds of the picture book the Library Dragon, in which the librarian is a dragon because of her strict rules in the library. She is softed up by the kids and becomes a real person. It's cute. I've read it for the summer reading programs sometimes, the kid think it's funny.
ReplyDeleteYou know, that's a trouble spot in our library collection. It's way too easy for the kids to mess up those particular books. I've got an idea....let's just clue down the books to the shelf so the books will never move. It will be like a pretend book display, but the books will not move or get out of order. What do you think? I bet I walk by that kids area once or twice a week and have to straighten out those books. Grrrrrr........
ReplyDeleteNever seen that TV ad that you are talking about. Sounds sicko!
I left a comment yesterday but it didn't take apparently. I have seen that commercial and now that you mention it, it is WAY too much parental intrusion. If the kid can wipe by themselves, they don't need a parent in there monitoring the event. Unless the kids is prone to playing in the bathroom which is a whole other issue.
ReplyDeleteOK Krissy.. Seeing that I stake electric lines for a living, I just had to correct you that the "phone" pole you almost hit is a power pole - looks like maybe 3 phase w/a transformer or ocr on it.
ReplyDeleteHey - stop calling me names under your breath - your mom reads these and might figure out what you are calling me!!! ha
P.S. They need to have a dog in the bathroom instead of the mom (am sure your house with Abby is just like having Happy, Spooker or Bailey escorting and supervising you while on throne!!)
