A few weeks ago I went to a craft fair in a little town called Elk Mound. It's about a 40 minute drive from my house. It was huge! The crafts were being held in both the high and elementary school buildings. Elk Mound is smaller then Colfax but they have a much bigger school system. I guess they have a bigger rural area. Anyway, back to the craft fair. It's not a bad thing. Well yes it is! They don't have food booths like they do up in Anchorage. The only food that was there was from the P.T.A.? Or some group like that. Hot dogs, nachos, BBQ ( which is loose meat and sauce on a bun ) and cookies and cake. No little this and that! I like me some this and that! ( How about a prime rib sammy and a cream puff at the big PAC fair? ) And this one had a lot of bead type stuff. Way to much bead stuff for me. I did end up buying 3 bars of home made goat milk soap, which I love! The soap maker was telling me that she sure wished there was a local seller of goat milk in this area. She has to buy hers from some guy way up north. Huh? I do want goats? I'm thinking! I also bought these beautiful blankets. I can't remember if this is crocheted or knitted? I can't tell! but what I can tell you is, that I got both for $50. I thought that that was a real nice price. I love the colors and they have a nice tight stitch that your toes don't poke through! And hand made by a nice little old lady. I love little old ladies!
Also 2 nights and 1 and 1/2 days till my sister gets here! EEEEEEEE
I'm no expert but it looks like knitting to me. Those are very pretty - probably cost her $20 in yarn alone and you got them for $25each? You should feel bad for taking advantage of an old lady.
ReplyDeleteThank you SO much for your comment on my blog. You pointed out that I made a negative comment that I did not back up or justify...it was not the point that I was trying to make and took away from the sentiment that I was trying to convey. Please stop over again and see how I have edited my post and made reference to your comment. I have a few horse topics to cover tomorrow but will put a side note to explain why I made the comment that I did. It is frustrating sometimes that in Western Canada we do not get support or representation from our own government and that we are effected so much by the US but get no say in that as well. I personally am proud to be a Canadian but am of the opinion that we would be better off to separate from Canada or perhaps even join the US (though it hurts me to say so b/c I do LOVE being Canadian). That bitterness showed through and I apologize for that. Sincerely, C.
ReplyDeleteYeah, those look knitted to me, too. What a deal, for $25 each. Wow.
ReplyDeleteIf you get goats, get fainting goats! (I don't think their milk is the milk used for goat's milk soap, though, unfortunately.)
I love craft fairs and little old ladies, too! :)
ReplyDeleteGeez Kris, do you have a fan club now or something????
ReplyDeleteI bet those blankets are knitted, especially if your toes don't go through the blanket.
I picked up some freebie stuff from the vendors today, so I will share my stuff with Jenny, Kellie and you!
I love Craft fairs but always end up buing things that I think are "neat" and then get them home and have no place for them. I like the color of the blue blanket! Pefect for winter.
