And another project

The shop/garage is about 100 ft from the house. There used to be power out to it but when I bought this place there was none. Moles? Gofers? Who knows why but it was gone. Well, enter in T.J. When he saw/found out that that I had power cords hooked together going from the house to the garage and that I was tripping the breakers all the time ( This was in the winter so I could heat the chicken coop and also keep their water from freezing) and that the plow guy would rip up my snow covered cords. He said that we needed to do something about it.

On one of his off days T.J. went and got a trencher and then laid some kind of pipe and also he put in some water type hose/pipe . All he has to do now is snake the wires and do the new panel and I will have power out in the shop. Lucky me his brother is a electrical contractor and T.J. works for him sometimes so he knows how to do all of this. His brother will come out when T.J. is doing the final stuff to just make sure.
My part? Was to put all the dirt back into the hole that the trencher made. That was a lot of dirt that I moved. T.J. also put a trench to the garden so that now we can have water out there without having to have water hoses snaked all around the house. That will be nice when I mow.

Before and after

Well, that's kind of a lie. I have no before picture to show. As some of you know, my friend T.J. has been doing some home improvements around the house. The front door had lots of wood rot around the frame and was just down right ugly. We went and I picked out a new door and T.J. took out all the rot and even had to do some work down in the basement under where the door was at as the rot was getting in that. I (note that I used I and not we) still need to paint the trim on the frame but I'm having a hard time picking the color. I figure that next year I will want to paint the house and can do the trim then? (Works for me!) Next door project is the new patio door. Lucky T.J.! It will match the front door. He says that he will need my help to put that in. I hope by help he means getting him a nice cold beer?

Come on baby light my fire

I have has this brush pile for a year or so. It kept growing and growing. It was becoming a pain in my you know what! I was having a hard time mowing around it. Well, we talked to the right people (The county fire department ) and got the okay to burn the pile. So we did. It only took about 20 min to burn this pile but then we added bigger logs to it and the pile ended up burning all day long. Now it's just a big ashy gray bare spot in the yard. Something that I can mow right over! I will toss some grass seed in there and get that going............on day soon I'm sure I will get on it.

Bad Krissy!

Wow! It's been a week since my last post. But I do have some lame reasons for not blogging.

I had a great time visiting with my sister in MO, and it was a nice road trip too. If there's one thing to know about me is that Krissy loves a road trip.

My sister Patty wants me to move to MO now so that I will be there when she and her hubby retire, but I'm not sure that I like that idea. It was hot and high humidity while I was there, more so then in WI.

School is DONE! I will get my grades back next week. I hope I passed! I jokes, I'm sure I did but I did have one really really big screw up! I thought that I was all done and sold my books back and low and behold, I still had one more week of school! I had three classes that I still had work to do.

I was kind of ticked at them as they did not post week 16 till week 16 started, but they had weeks 1 through 15 always posted so I'm not sure why they held back week 16. I did the work without the books but I may not have as good of a grade, but I was in the mid to high 90% grades so I'm not to worried. It's just nice to be done.

I'm still working 10 hours a week at the village office. It's okay, not really liking it, but it's money so I will keep on keeping on.

My friend T.J. had been doing some home improvements for me. He had to build this work bench so that he could "work" Pretty nice huh? Now I have a place to put stuff and not have it all willy nilly in the garage. I think that the plan today is to replace the screens in the house. They have holes in them and it's not stopping the bugs. So good thing that T.J. has a work bench to work at/on!

The after picture!

It took awhile but here is the picture of my new bedroom.
I will have to keep an eye out for wall stuff but that will have to wait till the funds are back up.
I'm not sure that you all can really see how nice my room looks like. I think that the picture does not do it justice.

After picture.

It looks really nice. But I am unable to load picture due to blogger doing some maintenance. I will try later. I'm glad that it's done, as I am shopped out. I canna do it any more. Poke me with a fork and call me done.

Sorry.

No big reveal. The room look GREAT! But we did (or SHE, my sister) did not get the window treatments up as we (She) had the wrong size curtain rod. We change it out and then changed what we are doing to the window. Tomorrow there will be pictures. It will be worth the wait! I am so going to love my new bedroom look.

Before

This is my very ugly bedroom. It's a bit more ugly then normal as Abby messed up the bed today. She likes to be under the covers so she always un-makes my bed for me after I make it. (Love her!)
Alicia and I went out and about today and got paint, window stuff and other painting stuff. Tomorrow I have class in the morning and then I work till 5pm. Alica is going to hang out and fix my bedroom. Tomorrow I will post the after picture. This way she for sure will have to get it done. Also my sister pretty much killed me with all the shopping that we did today.
We went to two craft stores in ONE DAY!

Before and after.

Before. After. In the before picture, where the T.V. is at is where the big card catalog like thing is at.
Before. After.

I hate, despise and deplore carpet cleaning. I just wanted to share that with you.
I have a longer then wide living room. The couch is about 5 feet out from the wall in the after picture. I also got rid of the TV. Now that I have NetFlix I have not been watching as much TV. I am going to call up the Dish and cancel that.

My Yard.

Come with me while I take you on the .25 cent tour. OK, I will give back .20 cents as it's not that exciting of a tour!

I don't know what kind of shrub/tree that is. The leaves were yellow but now that have all turned green. Any ideal?

This is my freshly weeded and manured garden bed. And NO I wont be planting 5 types of cherry tomatoes. I learned from last year. I'm going to plant 2 big tomato plants, some zucchini and green beans. Maybe something else. Beets?

I think that this is a crab apple tree? Not sure. Last year when it was full of flowers we had that big big hail storm and it just stripped all the blossoms off. That was my very first scary storm. You can read that here.
Well, was it work a nickle? I didn't think so either. I will give you back your nickle.

The House I did buy.

Yep, this is the house that Krissy bought. It met all the criteria that I had. It has a nice long long driveway. In fact, you can't see the road from my house as there is a slight curve in the driveway.

I have a little bit over 4 acres of land. 1 acre is full of big trees, the kind that were planted in a row for future lumber. I guess if I ever got really really poor I could sell the lumber for 100 bucks? I don't really know if I could sell it. I didn't have flat land as part of what I wanted but it sure is nice to have it so flat! My friend Kellie's husband doesn't understand why I have not yet planted 1 acre of potatoes yet! That what he would do with flat land! I see people on riding lawn mowers and I can see that they have a hill and I just wonder how they do it!

It's all on one level, other then the basement, which is, you guessed, in the basement. I have lots and lots of space there. I have put my freezer there, other then that, it's empty.

I have a nice porch in the back, I like to sit out there in the summer and read.

I have nobody close to me. I have corn fields North, South and West of me, and to the East I have trees. I can let my dog out and not worry that she will be bugging the neighbors or getting ran over by a car.

In this picture I am in the corn field South of me, that's how close I am to fields. I worry that Farmer Brown can see my unmentionables on the clothes line,so I hide them behind the towels!

Two more that I didn't buy!

I never got a chance to look at this house from the inside. When I was looking at houses here in Wisconsin, I only had 5 days to look at them all. The realtor and I had 2 appointments to see this house but each time we would get a call from the owners and they would cancel the meeting. It had 10 acres of land, a nice garage and shed attached to the garage. Some of drawbacks were, the house was not that far off the road and this is a busy road with the speed limit of 55. Also the house was a modular home. That's really a trailer. I never did get to see inside the house.
So I gave up trying to check it out.

Now this house looked newer then it was. I f I remember correctley, it was built in 1910? The house had new siding on it so that it covered up that this was really a log home! When I went inside. Oy Vay! It was a mess! The owners where in the middle of the remodel and were going through a nasty separation! The walls were half done, the bathrooms needed to be finished, finished as is the tub needed to be installed! The floor was in stacks, as that also needed to be installed. When I went into the basement, the walls were damp cement and you could tell where is was crumbling at. This was to much of a fixer upper house for me! Also it was just under 3 acres and a short driveway. But is did have a really big brand new 3 car garage! Huh, I wonder if that's why they were separating?

The house that I did buy was the 3rd house that I looked at, So I kept comparing all the houses to that. And no, I have not posted a picture of my house yet. Soon.

Another one I didn't buy.

This is a house that I looked at. It was not a contender, there was just too much wrong with it.
The asking price was about 20k more then I was willing to spend. The owners didn't want to budge on the price, as this house is about 3 or so miles away from a lake. Not on a lake, mind you, just near a lake. One positive thing about this place was, that it was almost 10 acres and it had some really nice big oak trees on the property. The drawbacks were the following.

1. I would have had to buy a stove and fridge.

2. The carpets were so threadbare that you could see the wood underneath. I would have had to replace all that.

3. The house was never wired upstairs. There were no wall outlets to use. There were only
lights on the ceiling. So if you wanted a lamp, alarm clock or any other electric item, you were out of luck!

4. UGLY inside, I mean ugly dog butt ugly! Old wallpaper, ugly paint in the kitchen. Just ugly ugly ugly!

5. And the oddest thing, there was a door on the 2nd floor that opened up to the stairs
coming up! You had about a 10 foot drop! Why a door there? Who knows!

This house is still for sale! Huh, I wonder what they are asking for it now?

Almost

This is a picture of a house that I could have bought. I had a list of things that I wanted in a home.

1. Off a main road. I wanted a long driveway so that I didn't have to worry about Abby getting hit by a car. I was not willing to budge on this one.

2. Bathroom, bedrooms and laundry all on the same floor. This, I was willing to budge on.

3. 3 or more acres. Not as firm, but it was a very important consideration.

This house did not have any of the above! But I did think about it, it was the 1st farm house that I looked at. And it came with a barn! Can you imagine that?! The main road was only about 30 feet from the front of the house. All the bedrooms were on the 2nd floor. The one and only bathroom was on the 1st floor and the laundry was in the basement! The stairs, talk about steep! I knew that I would trip and kill myself in a mad dash to the bathroom in the middle of the night. And it was only 3 acres. But still, I loved how it looked. It just looks like a farm house to me, probably because it is. But it didn't have the front porch thing going on! If it had? Who knows where I might be living at! Oh, and the price was low!
