This afternoon I spent some time trying to melt my soap so that I could put it in these little containers. Just a little helpful hint from Aunt Krissy, don't burn soap in the microwave. It's very easy to do and smells bad! And it does not work. I grated the soap up thinking that that might help it melt. It didn't. I then grated it into a small pot and tried to melt in on the stove top. My soap wont melt! I ended up cutting a "plug" of soap that fit into the containers. I sold some soap to a drug store and I needed to give them samples that they could put out for customers to smell. I didn't want to have a bar of soap just sitting there. I think that this will work. I also labeled the bottom of the containers just in case there is a mix up on the lids. When I make soap I will put a little bit in the containers. That way I wont have to cut more plugs and I also wont have to deal with a messy soap sample when I do more craft fairs.
I made this Apple Pie on Sunday. Is this not a good looking pie? Taste pretty good too.

ReplyDeleteDefinitely should be less messy than the bars sitting out. sounds like the soap business is getting better? I"m just about done with the first bar I started the end of August.

Oooh.. I had an idea. put the name of the sample on the bottom of the container too. That way, if the lid gets separated, they'll still know which goes with which.
