Never thought this!

I never thought I would say this! " I miss airplanes!" My Dad just finished this project in the garage and is now doing all the little things, well not really so little, still has the cable and flaps and all that other "make an airplane fly stuff" to do still. That statement probably kills the aviation people that read this blog! I love the colors that my Dad picked out, he says that they are a color that was used way back in the early days, I think he said that there is a plane in a Seattle Aviation Museum that has this color. I do know that this may bring attention from the Folks Against Aviation. Kind of like having a muscle car revving its engine at a stoplight next to a cop! But what also made me miss planes is that tomorrow in Eau Clair there is going to be a Air Show and the Blue Angles are in it. Today I saw them practice. Hearing them , seeing them and smelling them ( Jet fuel! love it!)brought me back to all the fun I have had working in aviation. I counted, I worked for a year for Sea Air, one year with Airpac and 21 years plus 8 months with PenAir so that's almost 24 years! and do I count growing up with a Dad that always had an airplane? Then that would be a lot more. I was the kid that didn't get sick in airplanes so when I was an adult my Dad would call me up to see if I wanted to go flying with him, and I most often said yes. I had some great times with my Dad! The one not so great time was when he made me stomp out a airstrip on snowshoes so that we could take off as he picked a bad place to land at! But that's all I will say about that.

P.S. A big Hello to all the PenAir family! Miss ya!

  1. I remember stomping out runways on snowshoes when we lived at Dad's cabin. Do you really like the smell of av gas? It's nasty. I'm feeling sick just thinking about it. yuck.
