Well I have been working at the library for 3 weeks now. Here are some of them.
1. The nice lady that home schools her kids. She checks out about 50 to 75 books at a time! I kid you not! We get books delivered 3 times a week (M/W/F) from other libraries and a lot of them are for her. We end up with a LARGE stack of them and then she comes in on Friday to pick them up and to drop off what she is done with. Some of the books she gets look real interesting, I kind of want to take them home and look at them!
2. The old man that cant see the computer! He's very nice and not blind blind but he gets his nose about 3 inches away from the screen so he can see it, but he is not a competent computer person so I have had to help him and he has ear hair! and his eye brows make my dads look tame! His eyebrows are so bushy that his glasses are pushed off his face. I needed to show him Map Quest and I finally had to ask him if I could just run the mouse and do the typing as it was killing me to try and tell him what to do. (remember, he cant see the screen!)
3. The odd guy. I try not to have eye contact with him! He believes that we are being poisoned by the One World Government via the Chem trails (not to be confused with contrails but they look a lot like each other!) and we need to open our eyes to this ( this to him, explains the deaths and starvation over in other countries ) he tells us that he is sick from the poison and Kellie asked him why he's sick and not us? His response was that you had to have been exposed to barium which he has, because, surprise surprise! the government poisoned him with that also! I hear from others that he has anger issues and not get him riled up, so far so good! ( I hear he's armed )
4. The young girl that's banned from using the computers due to inappropriate stuff, she still comes in and acts like she doesn't know whats going on and tries to use them, when we tell her no no, you cant! She tends to "flounce" out the door. ( Teenagers! )
5. The 92 year old lady that rides her scooter about 2 or 3 blocks to come and get her books, She's very nice, just cant believe that shes that old and does all that on her own. She is dreading winter as she wont be able to come to the library as often.
5. The nice guy that comes in each day to use the computer. I gave him some of the Almond puff thing that I made a few days ago and then yesterday while I was shelving books he came by and asked if I had brought in anything for that day and when I might be bringing more stuff in!
I told him that when I did I would make sure to set something aside for him.
6. The Shem, that's a guy that pretends to be a woman, I didn't know it was a man until my boss told me. She is very nice, but wears way way to much perfume and has big man hands!
but like I say, she is very nice and I don't have a problem with her, she makes me laugh!
It takes all kinds to make the world go 'round!
That's about it for the regulars. I'm sure that the longer I am here, the more I will get the skinny on the regulars!

Wow Kris, you have everyone pegged quite well...I'm proud of you. The next test will be to do imitations of library people!
ReplyDeleteVery good Kris. Library folks are pretty interesting!
ReplyDeleteI think any public domain has it's share of regulars. Except us, we just have a bunch of NON-RECYLCLERS who think our new automated garbage & recycling program is the worse thing ever. Lots of complaints lately. But also a few good calls - those who are excited to get curbside recycling.
ReplyDeleteThe second #5 sounds like he might be good husband material - better than the frog you showed not too long ago. Nice, quiet guy that loves the library and your cooking. What more could you ask for? Oh, a paying job. Make sure he has a job first.
