Oddities

This morning I noticed a few things about myself. And I ended up laughing at myself.

1. I count things. Not in a OCD way. But in a Count Dracula way ( You know from Sesame St.)
When I closed the shower curtain after my shower, some of the hooks came off and as I was putting them back on I caught myself going "Von, Von shower hook, two, two shower hook, ah ah ah!" And as I was putting the dry dishes away I caught myself doing it again to the spoons!
What's up with that?

2. I was hanging up clothes in the closet ( Yes I was being Count Dracula ) and I also realized that I had about 1 and 1/2 inches between all the hangers. I don't like my clothes to touch and mingle. I want the air to be able to move all around them ( Really, I think that they might be having a party in the closet if they touch ) I have seen other peoples closets that are stuffed full. So full that the clothes kind of swell out as they can't get them all the way in. I don't get that.

So, what odd things do you do? I know I can't be all alone out here in odd land!

  2. I'm obsessive with cat fur. I contantly walk around the house with a lint roller! I use the roller on my clothes, my couch, my chairs, my curtains etc. I even bought one for work and one for my suitcase....like I really do a lot of traveling!!!! My cat sheds her fur frequently and it's always the white fur that sheds so it looks nice on my black yoga pants, or black slacks for work. Thanks kitty

  3. The spacing between clothes is a little OCD. I get the counting of shower rings though. I'm not odd at all...ha ha ha. I just can't think of any right now.

  4. I have an odd thing but I think it is OCD related....about 3 days out of five when I get into the car ready to go to work I have a thought that MAYBE I didn't turn off my curling iron or MAYBE I didn't lock the front door...so out I get, go back inside and make sure it's off...and yes it's always off or the door is always locked. I really hate it when I get a couple blocks away and those thoughts pop up cause than I still feel compelled to go back....grrrr

  5. Sometimes I still sing the alphabet song at work when I am putting things in alphabetical order.

I love making up weird expressions. The one that irritated my kids the most was when I would compare how I felt to an old goat or compare them to little toads - " I'm as tired an as old goat, I'm as hungry as an old goat would be for tin cans, quit being silly you little toad or your as lazy as a toad on the road!"

I am out of the goat and toad stage and into homemade experlatives like crumbummy or exatomuntusa.

I have to confess my clothes hug each other in my closet.

  6. I count stairs. Can't help it.

I organize canned goods by likeness and size.

I sing the alphabet song. I try to use my inside voice.

Paper towelling must go over the top. I've conquered my directional obsession of toilet paper.

I whistle. A lot. I'm not very good, and I seldom realize I'm doing it.

  7. First, I think you're just channeling your inner child. The Count is still awesome, even though I'm in my 30s.

Next, not wanting your clothes to touch because they might have a party... Is that like how some religions are against dancing because it might lead to sex? Are you afraid your clothes will make baby clothes? Then again, that might not be so bad! You could make extra money retailing baby clothes then!

tainterturtles- dontcha love white kitty fur? I've found that black fur on white clothes shows up so much less. Oh, but it's not just white cat hair, white dog hair does the same! My dog's long, white hairs seem to be having a love affair with my black fleece every time I look away. Ahh! The joys of pet ownership!

I count in my head. Steps and stairs. I don't always do it. I can't help it when I DO do it though.

TP must go over, not under. And I have to have symmetry. I don't like things asymmetrical. It hurts my brain when things are asymmetrical in my house.
