Day 6 of the big Road Trip.

We traveled from Grand Rapids to my New Home ( 170 miles )

( I interrupt this blog to let you all know that I'm having a nice T storm. My power is flicking off and on. I have unplugged my computer. Getting pretty loud. WOW that was big and very bright! )

We got up that morning and had a nice breakfast with my Aunt and Uncle. I took Abby for a walk and while at the table I felt a little tickle on my arm, I brushed it, I got tickled again. I brushed harder and brushed a tick onto the table! My first tick! I was a little agitated as I have never seen a real tick, much less had one on me! I tired to think of the tick as a mosquito without wings. ( It doesn't work F.Y.I. They are not like a tick at all )

We got on the road at 10am (ish) and headed to my new home. We needed to stop at my one and only friend that I have in Wisconsin. She had my keys to my new place. She and her husband watched over my new house during the winter.

We got to her house at around 2pm (ish) and after some hugs I handed her a big bag of dirty clothes and asked her if she could wash them for us. My sister and I were down to the last of the clean stuff and we did not want to have to go to a laundry mat. Made plans to eat dinner with them as all my stuff was packed up at the house ( She and her husband had taken all my shipped stuff to my house and it was all waiting for me in boxes)

We went to my new home and that's when true hell week started. I needed to get "stuff" to set up the house and I hate to shop and my sister loves too. I had shipped a bed and my sister and I agreed that as much as we loved each other, and even though we were womb mates we did not want to share a full size bed. So off we went to go get her a bed. And stuff. We went and got "stuff" each and every day. I was getting "stuffed" out!

I am and was so glad that my sister came with me. She can clean and paint like crazy and likes too. Before we came down I showed her a picture of my hideous bathroom. I think that was what clenched the deal. She knew I would just leave it that way. It was pretty bad. She took care of that, made my get curtains and a rug. ( She did not like my rug choice and was trying to steer me to one that better matched the colors in the kitchen but I didn't get the hint, (Oh well. It works )

Also, I have a great friend, She not only washed, she dried and folded!

  1. Alicia is a good sister. She always helps me too, my house would still be green with blue stripes if A had not helped me out. I bet it was exciting to set up in your new home though. That's fun to have a blank slate and start filling it in.

  2. awwww....so sweet.....what d'ya want?!

It really was fun shopping to set up house. Maybe because I had no money to spend but it felt like I was shopping and spending...even though it was Krissy's moola. It would have been a tad bit more fulfilling if you'd just given me the dough and let me pick out everything!! Plus you'd have everything matching, being as I'm Martha Stewarty!!

But I gotta admit, you're adobe does have a certain sweet, homey, quaint charm to it!

  3. It sounds like a wonderful trip, except for the tick.

Alicia, if you feel a need to
"Martha" let me know. I did not get a drop of the creative gene. The only artwork on my walls is what others have put up. Kinda sad huh???

It was really fun reading Day 1 to Day 6 and now I have a better understanding of your BIG move to Wisconsin.
