Taj mahal (Not)

Today my friend Kellie and I got an early start. I needed to get some more lumber, nails, chicken wire and chicken wire nails and hangers for the lumber. We got that all done, had lunch and back home by noon. I even took a 45 min nap. ( I'm a nap animal )

I went out to the garage and took some measurement and got to cutting. I gave that up, the using the tape measure part. It works better for me when I put things in position and make the mark and then cut. But even that doesn't work out that well. I will do the "hide the sin with trim" trick. Or not. It is just a chicken coop. And a sturdy one to boot.

I swear that I had all the right measurements when I was ripping the plywood but I have some gaps in the corner . I must be using my special math skills.

That black square on the wood post is where one of my big old gap is at. It's a dozy of a gap.

The black square on the metal post is to show you where I bonked my head after I bent down to pick up some nails that I dropped. I have a nice little lump on my head.

All I need now is to put up the chicken wire. Oh and build nest boxes and that kind of stuff. But I see an end in sight.

  1. Glad you could use today to catch up on your chicken coop building. Now I'm just waiting to see the happy chicks.

  2. Tuesday's slip on the porch, and now a bump on the head-- be careful! So cool that you're building a chicken coop. I wouldn't know where to start.

  3. I'm impressed. Did you have to tape anything down to hold it in place while you nailed? That still makes me laugh! Sounds like you enlisted Kelli to be your holder. I can't wait for chickies either. We'll be down last week of May! I'm so excited, but hoping it's not tooooooo HOT.

  4. M2C1 is the rule of the trade. Hope your head is doing better. Remember that "junk in the trunk" and lots of dairy does not always help, remember my broken leg???????? You know what M2C1 means, right?

  5. Patty, no Kellie was not here to help. I was all by myself. I was thinking that I might just have to get the tape out as I needed a 3rd arm!

Janice, I belong to the M2C2 and still too short!

Annette, I have to say, this morning I was a little slow getting out of bed.
