Today I woke up feeling kind of draggy. I had to do some food shopping as all I had in the fridge was milk, 6 eggs , 1/2 jar of salsa and jam. Oh, and all the condiments that a girl might need and for some reason I need lots!
After coming home from shopping I felt like going to the movies. You need to understand, when I lived in AK I went to the movies all the time. Here, not so much. I went on line and saw that X-Men and Star Trek were both playing. What to do, what to do. I'm a Trekkie fan from way back. In fact, one time while playing trivial pursuit I knew what NCC-1017 was and won that round. I also know what a Kobayashi Maru is. In fact, there is a story about that. One day at my old job we were having a really really bad day. We had bad weather and broke planes and any choice I made to solve the problem had a big down side. I said " Man this is a real Kobayashi Maru" and a pilot started to laugh and said that he wold have never guessed that I was a Trekkie.
But I also have a "thing" for Hugh Jackman. What a dilemma I had. Well, I looked at the movie times and saw that I could be a bad person and work in a second movie.
I went and saw Star Trek first, then, being that there was no sign saying that I could not see 2 movies with one ticket, I also saw X-Men. I missed the first 10 min of X-Men. But after watching the movie I realized that I didn't miss much. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of scenes of Hugh Jackman that are easy on the eye, but the movie was not as good as Star Trek. In fact, I found X-Men to be a little boring.
On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give X-men a 4 and Star Trek a 9. If you know Star Trek, you will get the little funnies and how the crew meet each other and how they gets along. If you know nothing about Star Trek ( Can there be those kind of people?) you will still like it.
Just to set the record straight. No, I do not speak Klingon nor have I ever been to a Star Trek convention or dressed up in a Star Trek uniform! Have you ever done one of the three?
And with that. Live long and prosper. \\ //

No, no and no. My guys went to see ST and liked it. Just K and I will have to go some time.
ReplyDelete"\\ //"? You GEEK! I love it!
ReplyDeleteI like Star Trek but certainly not to the extent you do. In fact, I've only seen one or two of the "movies". I do enjoy old ST reruns with Captain Kirk. The acting is so bad, they're good. And no, don't speak Klingon, never wore a suit (although I know someone who dresses up as a Klingon) and never been to a convention.
ReplyDeleteBoy oh boy, it's a good thing the movie police didn't catch you!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI use to watch Star Trek when I was a little girl, but it wasn't my kind of thing back in the day. Never was a Science Fiction kind of person.
I watched the movie "Holes" tonight. Now that's my kind of movie!!!!
The only Star Trek I've seen is when I've bed subjected to it like when Jim has the phaser and he 's watching tv and sometimes he'll watch it. I sometimes watch a few minutes of it but then I have thoughts like "hmmm...I should go put a load of wash in the washing machine" or some other similar thought!
ReplyDeleteumm yeah... I don't remember ever watching the movie or anything...wait...one time we did go to the theater but I fell asleep in it. Come to think of it...that was Star Wars, not Star Trek.
I have never seen Star Trek, except for that one movie where they stick the earwig in the one guy's ear. I am still traumatized by that.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I really, really want to see the new Star Trek, but will have to wait until DVD.
(Zachary Quinto is why I want to see it)
And, I have yet to hear anyone who liked the Wolverine movie, which is too bad because I wanted to see that one, too.
