Pick a scent, any scent.

I was searching the WEB a lot last night. I was looking for a wholesale essential oils place. I found one and after looking at all the scents that they had ( Over 200 of them! ) I made my picks. Then of course last night in bed I worried about what I ordered. I should get them on May 18.

The soap recipe that I'm using calls for 3 to 4oz of essential oil. I ordered 3.3oz size for all the scents other then the French lavender. Did you know there are about 8 types of lavender that you can get? Depends on where it grows, how high of an altitude that it grows at, is what sets the price. I choose mid range price on the lavender.

This is what I picked.
Bay ( Think Bay Rum )
Blood Orange
Birch
Bergamot
White Grape Fruit
Lime
Patchouli
Spruce
French Lavender (16.6oz)
Vitamin E oil. You use Vit E to keep the oils from going rancid.
Also I ordered 1lbs of dried Lavender flowers and 1lbs of Orange Peel.

I really wanted Sandalwood. Good thing I was sitting on the couch. I almost fell off when I saw the price of it!
The cheapest was $128.86 for 3.3oz. The most was $542.86 for 3.3oz. I will NOT be making Sandalwood scented soap. To save some money, the price went down if you bought in bulk. For a bargain price of $1727.27 you can get 6lbs of it.

The place I got my scents from also gave list of what oils blend well with other ones. I might try my hand at blending some.

I got the Birch and Spruce as they are a more masculine scent. I don't think that men really think about the soap that they buy, but their woman do. I don't think most woman want their men to smell like a girl.

Still looking for bulk lye.

  1. I tend to like the "male" scents instead of the sweet scents. Birch? I had no idea that Birch had a particular scent!

I've bought the sandlewood soap before and love it...to bad it's so expensive.

  2. Hi Krissy,

Question about yesterday's post; Would the soap person you know sell you lye or help you reach her lye connection? Why is lye so hard to buy?

When do you get your chicks and goats? Are you doing a veggie garden?

More sunshine today; probably more so far than all of last year!!

    Blessings, Janice

  3. Janice. Yep, that peson said that she would be more then happy to sell me some lye. I think she bought in bulk and had like 200lbs. I just am unable to reach her. Also I fell kind of bad asking her. She sells soap so she is helping me compeat against her.

Lye has been taken out of a lot of stores as it is used to make Meth. Some stores, if they carry it,limit how much you can buy or it's not 100% lye. I have to have 100% pure lye or the soap wont soap.

I should get chickens at the end of the month, also the goats. I need to put up a fence before Ican get the goats. That's where Tim and Patty come in.

  4. We are coming! Soon! I can't wait! Tim will be more than happy to build goat fencing....I think. Who cares? He gets to do it anyways. Sounds like you are on the way. I'll help you with designing wrappers and stuff when I get there - it will be so much fun!
