My tale of woes.

Well, I got my lap top back from the IT guy. (He's not with the library, has his own PC repair shop) and told me that he sure is puzzled by it and can't fix it. So I picked up the lap top and took a little drive to Best Buy. YES! I had bought a 2 year warranty.

I took the lap top to the Nerd Herd desk and my very first thought was " Wow, a bunch of Mormons work here" When I see young men in black dress pants, shiny shoes, white button shirt tucked in and a black tie, it just says Mormon to me. ( No offence to any Mormons out there, just my thoughts)

The Nerd Herd guy took apart my computer and just could not believe that the keys didn't work in the lap top but they would work out of the lap top. The other guy working there was listening in on the chat and he didn't think that it was possible and was sure that the 1st Nerd Herd did something wrong, so he put it back together and them took it apart, and yep, same problem, then the 3rd guy showed up and was sure that the other 2 guys must of did something wrong. He too took it apart! My laptop was taken apart 3 times by 3 different guys. They all agreed that this was a very strange problem.

My lap top is now on its way to the Dell hospital. It will be gone for 2 to 3 weeks. I can get a loner
but I have to pay for it. I would get all that money back unless I broke it. One of those you break it you buy it things.

So, long story short. I will just come to work early or stay late and use the library computers.
I gave myself a 1/2 hour today. Not long enough to look at all the blogs I go to and leave comments. I may have to get a loner.

  1. Oh Krissy.. it'll take you longer than that just to read the "stuff" I sent today ! you just need to get the loaner ... IMHO

  2. Some warranty that is! You don't have a computer until it's fixed and returned to you, and you have to pay for the loaner? That stinks. Too bad. I hope it doesn't take as long as they say.

  3. If I may offer a suggestion? Since it's a Dell, I assume you have a Dell warranty? Or do you have a nerd herd/BB warranty?

Because if it were a Dell warranty, and it's less than a year old, they will come out to your house! But if you bought from BB, I don't know if that's an option. They've gone out to my parents' house, so I know they'll go to yours!

  5. I'd be lost without my laptop. One of the perks to working in a library is that you have access to lots of computers.

Remember, Boyceville Public Library on Saturday, or Cafe 44!

  6. That sucks! If it helps, my husband, the Uber-Geek that until he switched his geek job for a more lucrative geek job, was the Head Uber-Geek of some of the finest Uber-Geeks out there, was stumped by your issue too. So, the BB Mormons weren't just being morons.

Hope that makes you feel a little better.

  7. Too bad Krissy, I know how tough it was to go without my computer for a few days. But at least you have the option of checking in before work!

  8. Hey Jenny! Nice to see ya drop in.
Noop, not lip stick plant. Mom has it right, just can't remember it.

I bought from BB. Not Dell so that's why it had to go back to Dell.

  9. Sounds like a three ring circus at Best Buy. Sorry. Hope your computer recovers quickly at the Dell hospital.
