I'm having nice thoughts right now.( Just so you know, most of the time my thoughts are nice ) Somebody, somewhere has something burning. I just love the smell of wood smoke.
Today I have taken 3 bees (wasp?) out of the house. One was on the floor walking around and Abby was bumping it with her nose and then she jumped back and sneezed a few times and then did the little "avoid looking the bee cause if you can't see it, it can't see you thing" I checked her nose. She didn't get stung. but the bees is dead, she must of bumped it too hard one time to many! She just wanted a little friend to play with.
I leave my sliding door open while I'm home so that I don't have to get up and down letting Abby out so today I have had 2 birds come into the house. One was a little humming bird. I need to get their feeders put up. I like sitting out in the morning and seeing them come to the feeders.
And I'm sure you all are just dying to know the status of my TV/hulu watching. I am now up to season 6 on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and on season 3 of Angel ( Spin off from Buffy) but I'm now watching them on DVDs as hulu does not have everything.
For church potluck today I brought the "green fluff" salad. A.K.A. Pistachio Salad. It seems that the food is getting better or maybe I'm adjusting to it. I have to admit that there was a bad baked bean dish today. Did this person not learn that you need to doctor up the beans? add some onion? some ketchup? anything? There was a lot of that dish left over. I think the word got out to stay away from them.
What sure fire dish do you always bring to a potluck? I'm stuck on the same 3 or 4 dishes and I need some ideals.

Have you ever had "pink stuff"? It is wonderful and very easy, i will sne the recipe if you are interested.
ReplyDeleteWell, since you asked, next week we are having an Italian-style potluck at church so I'm planning on making spaghetti pie. I can always share the recipe with you.
ReplyDeleteAlso, if you have rhubarb in your yard, I can share a rhubarb upside down cake!
Krissy, Have you checked out this blog? Her recipes sound really yummy. http://bakingpictures.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteMy standby is Heavenly Ham - you have the recipe but it's kind of pricey - at least $20 for the ham up here, I imagine it might be less down there. The crockpot meatballs is a good one too.
ReplyDeleteI don't really have a dish to share, but the comments are making me hungry. I'm curious about your "green fluff" and Janice's "pink stuff." Do you make these salads with cool-whip and jello?
ReplyDeleteYep, green fluff is made out of pistachio pudding, pineapple, marshmallows and cool whip. I'm not sure what the pink stuff is.
ReplyDeleteSo yes Janice send me an e-mail on pink fluff.
My potato dish, which you have the recipe for, beans and weiners (doctored up of course), pasta salad that I got the recipe for when I worked at a deli, apple cake, taco dip (sour cream and dried seasoning mix) spread out on a platter - topped with lettuce, cheese, olives, and tomatoes.
ReplyDeleteIf the weather is cold I make soup in the crock pot, my favorite texas hash, minestrone, stew, or potato soup.
I guess that was a big list.
I am busy introducing CP to Buffy and Angel. We are up to Angel season 4 and Buffy season 6. He is enjoying watching them more now than when we first got together. Of course, he has changed quite a bit. :)
ReplyDeleteFor pot-lucks, I usually bring a seven layer taco dip with tortilla chips (the kind with a can of refried beans, sour cream/cream cheese/taco seasoning mixture, layers of salsa, cheese, lettuce, olives, meat, tomatoes, guac, whatever you feel like.
ReplyDeleteOr you can do meatballs in a sweet & sour sauce. That's easy. Usually grape jelly and BBQ sauce, I think is all it is.
