Bummer and good news.

Well, today at Church there was an announcement made. We ( the Church ) have been doing something every week that it against the law in the state of Wisconsin. (Gasp!) We have a potluck every Sunday and in Wisconsin you can only have 3 a year! Don't get up in arms just yet. It's all about food poisoning. The state feels that having so many people bringing in dishes to share each week that we are increasing the risk. Some of us ladies in the Church are going to see if there are loop holes and such. I brought up that up in AK, at my sisters church, they have a dinner each Wednesday that one person makes for all, in the church kitchen. We are going to look into seeing if that would work.

Also at Church today I talked to the goat lady. She is going to come by tomorrow and check out the goat pen and stall and make sure that all is good and if so then I will be getting my goats on Wednesday! She felt bad that she had not gotten back to me but said that with the heat that we had last week it would not have worked out to move the goats. It would have been to stressful for them. It being a new place and all.

After Church I went to the movies. I went and saw Transformers. Sorry, but it was way way to long of a movie. I got tired of all the action. Really, just how many times can you watch a car/truck turn into a machine that fights? But if your going to see it, see it on the big screen. I think that if you wait to see it at home that the small screen will make it worse.

  1. Sounds to me like the state is interfering in church business!

I hope your stalls "pass" the inspection of the goat lady and you get your goats soon.

Anchorage had a HUGE rain and thunderstorm last night. It poured for an hour at my place and the thunder was the loudest I have ever heard. My friend that lives near
Alaska Regional said they heard the thunder but did not have any rain!

  2. I've never heard of a church not being allowed to have potlucks. Churchs and potlucks go together like ticks and hounds. I know we don't charge a fee for dinner (that would be against the law) but we do accept a suggested donation. Isn't it crazy? I hope the goat lady approves. Kind of reminds me of someone we bought guinea pigs from - she wanted to come by and visit them periodically to make sure we treated them right.

  3. I seems to remember hearing or reading about potluck dinners at churches. I guess churches fall under the same restaurant codes, so lots of churches wouldn't pass inspections because food isn't held at the correct temperatures (160-180 degrees), and there is also a specific temperature dinnerware has to be washed and sanitized at. I kinda forgot about all that since I worked in a school food service.

I guess my church is at fault too because we have pot lucks once a month!

Can't wait until the goats arrive.

  4. That is a bummer about the pot luck. I always thought that was pretty neat, and a better way to build community, than the service alone.

    Yay for goats! How exciting!

R went and saw Transformers this weekend, too. He said it wasn't a BAD movie, since it was about Transformers, but it wasn't a good movie. I don't know that I've heard of anyone giving it a good review yet.

I still want to go see Star Trek.
