Shop talk again.

I have been having problems free hand cutting my soap.
It's real hard to cut while it's on the box. I tip it out on butcher paper and mark the paper with the measurements so that I could try and have even cut, but that didn't work. The soap is very firm and kind of grabs onto the knife and I would have to lift the knife out of the soap a few times to get the cut to go all the way across the slab. I have been thinking that there has got to be a better way. And there is!
I got one of them dry wall mud/tape thing. Problem. Box is 9 and 3/4 inch wide and doo-hickey thing is 9 and 3/4 plus a little itty bit. Also the blade itself was not deep enough to go all the way to the bottom of the box. I took the cutting thing over to my friend Kellie's house as her hubby has a tricked out garage. ( He has it all and then some ) He ground off the little itty bitty part and now the blade fits. It will go straight down so I will have even cuts.
Also I made 3 more soap boxes. I did have some bad cuts. Good thing I had some spare wood!

  2. It takes time to get a process just right, but you're swinging with the punches and working through the tough spots. Way to go!

  3. Were your bad cuts from what Tim cut? That cutting thing seems to do the trick. What are dimensions of the bars? I really need to get to work on designing your wrappers.
